Putting it all Together

We have come to the end of our summer series, Keep Calm & Be Wise.  We hope you have enjoyed the study, but we also hope that you spent your summer reading through the book of Proverbs.  In today's message, we put it all together & see that a life fully devoted to God is a life that walks in the manner worthy of the Lord.  Proverbs 4 says, "Above all else, guard your heart..."  That's where we will start when putting it all together.

Trusting God

Proverbs 3:5, 6 are probably the most familiar and most memorized verses in all of Proverbs. They are etched on plaques for our homes, stitched on Bible covers & tattooed on bodies as reminder or life-verses. What do these verses have to do with wisdom? Since these are familiar verses, we thought we would just walk down through the passage to reintroduce it as a fresh, vibrant portion of God's Word that will be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.

Friendship: Iron Sharpening Iron

We need friends.  Friendship is part of God's design for life, and wisdom is living life the way God designed you to live.  We were never meant to go through life alone–there should be no such thing as a "Lone Ranger" Christian!  In this message we continue our series in Proverbs and discover how life and faith can be sharpened by friendship.

Building a Biblical Family

Family is one of the most (if not the most) important "institutions" created by God.  It's part of his design for our lives, and God has a plan for how "family" is supposed to work.  As we study the subject of family in the Book of Proverbs, we'll discover God's design, and how we can live according to his plan in the realm of family.

Money (Proverbs has a lot to say)

Is money a bad thing?  Can money be a good thing?  Proverbs tells us that money can be (and usually is) a problem.  But, money can also be productive.  We will answer those questions by looking at just a few verses in Proverbs yet there are over 60 verses that lend understanding to finances, greed, debt, savings, hoarding, riches, investing, & provision.  This study is worth your time because we are in deep trouble if we don't know how to steward what God has given to us.

Work Like A What?

Pastor Jarrod continues our summer series in Proverbs, Keep Calm and Be Wise, as we see what God's design for work is, and how we can apply it to our lives.

Our Huge Humility

“Pride goes before destruction.”  That’s probably the most famous quote out of Proverbs.  In vast contrast stands the character quality of humility.  Pride is something we all have and we all struggle with to some degree & disadvantage, but humility has to be sought.  Pride has to be eradicated as the one of the darkest, secret sins that we bestow.  Humility crushes pride with wisdom as the hammer.

Integrity: Be Who You Are

Integrity has become a relic of the past in our society. News anchors lie, athletes cheat, few people are honest, unless of course it’s convenient. But, God designed us to live with integrity, and living the way God designed you to live is the very definition of wisdom. In this message, we’ll see what integrity really is, and how we can walk in it.

Straight Talk About Our Speech

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me.”  Whoever said that was a liar.  Proverbs tells us that there is death and life in the power of the tongue.  There are over 100 proverbs regarding how we communicate.  Communicating well isn’t easy.  It takes practice.  What are destructive words & from where do they come?  What are constructive words & from where do they come?  Here’s a hint: they both come from the heart.

The Value of Wisdom

Keep Calm & Be Wise.  We’ve begun our summer series in Proverbs on the Value of Wisdom.  For next next 10 weeks, we will be studying Proverbs categorically:  1)Wisdom is living life the way it was designed to be lived, 2)Wisdom is the best decision with the best results every time, & 3)Wisdom is skill at life.  Proverbs is the most extensive ethical section of the Bible.  In today’s message we see the importance of pursuing wisdom, finding wisdom, & how wisdom works.
