Guest speaker, Dr. Keith Shubert, concluded our study on Daniel by weaving the truth of the doctrine of the sovereignty of God through the first 6 chapters of Daniel. As he concluded with Daniel and the Lions Den, the challenge was laid before us as to how Christ followers act & react to a corrupt culture, corrupt government, & broken world.
Daniel was an ambassador for God. What happened in Daniel 5 is one of the most incredible events in the history of the world...the day Babylon fell. God again was using Daniel to speak into the life of a leader gone rogue. Today we will learn some lessons from the life of Belshazzar as well as lessons from the life of Daniel. God has given us a clear message and made us ambassadors of Christ. How do we stand as ambassadors in this culture?
Daniel 4 is the only chapter in the entire Bible dictated by a pagan king. It tells the story of how King Nebuchadnezzar, a man who thought he was like a god, was humiliated to the point of becoming an animal, so that he would realize he was just a man and that God is ultimately in charge of the Universe. In this message, we learn how we can humble ourselves before the eternal, sovereign King of Heaven, and avoid the path of Nebuchadnezzar's humiliation.
Pastor Andy continues our series, In the Lion's Den, through the first six chapters of Daniel. This series examines what the Book of Daniel has to teach us about how to maintain our Christian faith in an increasingly hostile culture. In the sermon today, we learn a few strategies for how to resist bowing down to the idols of our culture.
